Abstract

This study explores the emotional perception of an English teacher towards the implementation of the virtual classroom program during covid-19. Participants' semi-structured interview data were analyzed thematically to find positive emotional perceptions and negative emotional perceptions. The findings of this study indicate that more negative emotional perceptions than positive emotional perceptions were obtained from the participants. The negative emotional perceptions found in this study were in the form of shock, loneliness, anxiety, hopelessness, annoyance, anger, and distrust. The findings of this study also found positive emotional perceptions in the form of hope, gratitude and relief. From the findings of this study, it is hoped that it will be useful as a reference in the process of educational progress based on emotional perception which is certainly beneficial for pedagogical and technical development in future virtual classroom programs.
