Abstract

DHF is still a major public health problem in Indonesia. The use of natural larvicides from plants can be an alternative to insecticides, one of which is the rhizome of temulawak (Curcuma xanthorrhiza roxb) which is thought to be used as a vegetable insecticide due to the presence of active compounds. The purpose of this study was to determine the percentage of mortality, the difference in the average mortality of Aedes aegypti larvae. This type of research is a true experimental study with a posttest only control group design. The results showed that 100% larval death was faster at a concentration of 3% after 2 hours of measurement. The results of the Kruskal Wallis test showed that at 1 hour to 7 hours there was a significant difference (<0.05) in the mean larval mortality between the rhizome ethanol extract treatment groups. Further research is needed to develop an ethanolic extract of temulawak rhizome that is safe and suitable for use but does not eliminate the compounds present in the ethanolic extract of temulawak rhizome.
