The method used was qualitative research. The instrument used in this research was interview sheet. The participants of this research were two English teachers of SMA Negeri 1 Banjarmasin and one English teacher of SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Banjarmasin. The research result showed that the teachers used different type of teaching strategies in accordance to the easiness, effectiveness and suitability to the pandemic Covid-19. The strategies are mastery learning strategy and short animated stories strategy. The difficulties they faced while applying these strategies were providing material, providing detailed explanations and feedback. In providing the material and detailed information, the teachers were not able to fully explain the material as sometimes the internet got disturbance and the amount of time was not sufficient enough to explain all material of the day. Feedback that was hoped by the teachers were that the students actively response to their teaching, but mostly students were only listening. The teacher is suggested to vary the teaching strategies used to teach writing as the teacher should apply the appropriate strategies in teaching writing to improve student’s writing skill.
