Abstract

ABSTRAK Penyebab kerusakan dan penurunan kekuatan perkerasan lentur jalan raya adalah rendahnya kekuatan dan keawetan di dalam lapisan aus. Plastik memiliki banyak manfaat tetapi juga memiliki sisi negatif khususnya limbah plastik. Namun limbah plastik membuka peluang untuk dimanfaatkan di bidang konstruksi jalan raya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengevaluasi potensi penggunaan PET (Polyethylene terephthalate) plastik botol daur ulang sebagai bahan Substitusi dalam campuran aspal laston AC-WC dengan kadar plastik 4%, 6%, 8%, 10% dan 12%. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan Marshall test yang dilakukan di Laboratorium Universitas Islam Kalimantan Muhammad Arsyad Al Banjari. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan penggunaan kombinasi plastik 4%, 6%, 8%, 10% dan 12% pada campuran Laston AC-WC. Dapat dilihat pada variasi campuran tidak memenuhi spesifikasi yaitu Stabilitas 12%, VIM 8%, 10%, 12%, dan VFB variasi 10%, 12%, semakin tinggi substitusi kadar plastik maka semakin menurun pula stabilitas Hal ini dikarenakan plastik PET yang menyelimuti agregat kasar menyebabkan daya lekat aspal semakin berkurang, VIM terlalu tinggi menyebabkan aspal kurang rapat sehingga air dan udara dapat memasuki rongga-rongga meneyababkan mudah teroksidasi, sedangkan nilai VFB yang terlalu rendah menyebabkan campuran bersifat porous. Kata Kunci : Campuran Laston AC-WC,Kombinasi Limbah Plastik, PET, Marshall ABSTRACT The cause of damage and reduction in the strength of flexible road pavement is the low strength and durability within the wearing layer. Plastic has many benefits but also has negative aspects, especially plastic waste. However, plastic waste opens opportunities to be utilized in road construction. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the potential use of PET (Polyethylene terephthalate) recycled plastic bottles as a substitute material in AC-WC asphalt concrete mixtures with plastic content of 4%, 6%, 8%, 10%, and 12%. This research method employs the Marshall test conducted at the Laboratory of Kalimantan Islamic University, Muhammad Arsyad Al Banjari.The research results indicate that the use of plastic combinations at 4%, 6%, 8%, 10%, and 12% in AC-WC asphalt concrete mixtures does not meet the specifications. Specifically, the Stability at 12%, VIM at 8%, 10%, and 12%, and VFB at 10% and 12% variations show a decreasing trend with increasing plastic content. This is because the PET plastic covering the coarse aggregate reduces the asphalt's adhesion, high VIM leads to insufficient compaction, allowing water and air to enter voids and causing easy oxidation, while a too low VFB value results in a porous mixture.
