Abstract

Background: In Alalak Selatan Subdistrict, North Banjarmasin Subdistrict, malnutrition cases occurred less frequently in boys under the age of 196 people (63%) compared to those in girls under five who were only 178 people (47%). Cases of malnutrition occur mostly in the age group 24-59 months, namely 236 underweight malnourished children (63.1%) and the lowest age group in infants aged 0-5 months (Annual Report of South Alalak Health Center). The purpose of this study: To determine the relationship of maternal knowledge and exclusive breastfeeding with the nutritional status of toddlers in South Alalak Health Center, Banjarmasin City Research methods: This type of research is analytical research with cross-sectional design. The sample in this study was mothers with children under the age of 84 in the Alalak Health Center working area. The sampling technique was by accidental sampling, statistical analysis by chi square test (X2) using a value = 0.05 Results: Nutritional status of toddlers at most 52 people (61.9%) good nutrition, knowledge of mothers at most good categories 49 people (46.4%) mothers who gave breast milk at most categories were not exclusive 47 people (56%). Conclusion: There is a relationship between knowledge and nutritional status in the Work Area of South Alalak Health Center in Banjarmasin City in 2019 (p <α) and there is a relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and nutritional status in the Work Area of Alalak South Health Center in Banjarmasin City in 2019 (p <α) Suggestion: It is better for Mother of Toddler to give exclusive ASI as well as seek information and participate in Posyandu activities.
