Abstract

The Aedes aegypti mosquito is one of the main vectors in dengue dengue fever (DBD) transmission. The use of plant-based larvacides from red galantic rhizome extract (Alpinia Purpurata K. Schum) is one of the plants that has chemical compounds such as flavonoids, saponins, tannins, alkaloids, and astiri oil which is one of the alternatives to control mosquito growth. The purpose of this study was to determine the potential of red galantic rhizome water (Alpinia Purpurata K. Schum) against the death of Aedes aegypti larvae. This research is a quantitative study using true experimental design method with posttest only control group design research design that is by providing red galantch rhizome extract treatment with concentrations of 3%, 5%, 7% and 9% with aquades solvent with repetition as many as 4 times, a large sample of 600 larvae. The data collection results were analyzed using univariate statistics, bivariate using the One Way Anova statistical test with the Kruskall-Wallis test alternative test known that p-value 0.001 > α (0.05) concluded there were significant differences. followed by the Mann-Whitney test. Based on the results of research conducted at the Center for Soil Health R&D Bumbu on the extract of red galanus rhizome water (Alpinia Purpurata K. Schum) against the death of Larvae Aedes aegypti obtained that the concentration of 9% experienced 100% larval death after 8 hours of measurement. The conclusion of this study is that red galantic rhizome water extract (Alpinia Purpurata K.schum) has a larval effect and potentially against the larvae of Aedes aegypti.
