Abstract

The realization of exclusive breastfeeding in Banjarmasin City is still low or far below the 67 percent target. This means that there are still many mothers who do not exclusively breastfeed their children. This study aims to analyze the relationship between knowledge of mothers and breastfeeding father with the success of exclusive breastfeeding in the area of Puskesmas Sei Mesa in 2020. The research method used was analytic survey with cross sectional approach with accidental sampling technique. The population and research sample amounted to 47 students with a sample of 57 people. Data were collected by distributing questionnaires to respondents and to determine the relationship of each variable, a Chi Square test was performed. The results showed that the majority of respondents did not provide exclusive breastfeeding (55.3%), the majority of mothers' knowledge was in the good category (48.9%) and most of the highest breastfeeding fathers were supportive (61.7%). The results obtained ρ-value greater than alpha (0.05) for the knowledge variable (P-Value 0.204) and the Breastfeeding Father variable (P-Value 0.218), then ρ> α so that H1 is rejected, which means there is no relationship between knowledge and Breastfeeding Father with exclusive breastfeeding. It is suggested that husbands need efforts to provide support for exclusive breastfeeding and give positive appreciation to mothers in the breastfeeding process.
