Abstract

Work stress can occur in the workforce which results in a decrease in work productivity leading to the risk of work accidents in workers at the K3 Laboratory of South Kalimantan Province. The results of the CFO Innovation Asia Staff survey (2012) show that the level of work stress in various Asian countries including Indonesia, which is 73%, has the potential for work stress. Indonesia experienced an increase in potential work stress as much as 9% from the previous year, so the potential for stress on workers in Indonesia is quite high. This study aims to determine the factors associated with job stress in the workforce. This study uses an analytic observational research with a cross sectional approach. Population and sample of 50 people using accidental sampling method. The variables of this research are work stress, role ambiguity, and role conflict. The instrument of this research used a questionnaire. Statistical test using chi-square test. The results of this study experienced moderate work stress by 26 respondents (52%), role ambiguity experienced moderate by 30 respondents (60%), and role conflict experienced moderate experience by 30 respondents (60%). The results of the analysis show that from the 2 variables only role ambiguity has a relationship with work stress (p=0.019). Control measures should be taken, such as certainty of tasks for worker productivity, conducting training on work stress, and holding family gatherings.
