Abstract

This research is motivated by the lack of focus of students on social studies learning, one of which is on the types of work. The teacher only uses books as learning material. This study aims to develop instructional media, to determine the effectiveness of pop-up book learning media on the material types of work in grade IV students. This type of research is a Research and Development (R&D) with a development method using the Waterfall model, namely the stages (1)Needs analysis (2)Design (3)Implementation (4) Testing. The feasibility of the pop-up book learning media based on the validation test of experts and small group trials is then applied to the large group test (sample class). Data collection techniques using observation, interviews, questionnaires, tests, and documentation. Data analysis techniques, including product data analysis, preliminary data analysis using the normality test, and final data analysis using the Wilcoxon test. The results showed that the percentage obtained from material experts was 85% which could be said that the material for the types of work was included in the very criteria for use. The percentage by media experts is 90%, it can be said that the learning media is very feasible to use. The student response questionnaire stated that the media was in very good criteria. And in the experimental, class the pre-test average result is 73 and the post-test mean is 91.5 where the post-test mean is higher than the post-test. Hypothesis testing in this study uses the Wilcoxon test. The Wilcoxon test results show that the significance value is 0.000. The significance value is less than 0.05, which means that Ha is accepted, meaning that there are differences obtained before and after using the pre-test and post-test results, so it can be concluded that there are differences in the effectiveness of using the PopUp Book learning media.
