Abstract

South Kalimantan Province is one of the provinces in Indonesia that has a stunting prevalence rate higher than the national prevalence based on data from Riskesdas 2007, Riskesdas 2010, Riskesdas 2013 and Riskesdas 2018. Data from Riskesdas 2007 states that the prevalence of stunting in South Kalimantan Province is 41.8 %, then decreased to 35.3% (2010) then rose again to 45% (2013) and decreased to 33.1% (2018), but still above the national figure. Based on the results of Riskesdas 2018, the city of Banjarbaru has the highest prevalence of stunting under five in South Kalimantan reaching 39.73% while the prevalence of stunting in children aged 0-23 reaches 31.46%. In 2019 based on data from the Banjarbaru City Community-Based Nutrition Reporting Electronic Application Recording, the highest stunting cases were at the Landasan Ulin Community Health Center as many as 131 people (19.8%) while children aged 0-23 months who experienced stunting were 72 people (19.7%). The purpose of this study was to analyze a risk factor that related with stunting incidents were seen from age, sex, initiation of early breastfeeding and exclusive breastfeeding. This study in the Landasan Ulin Community Health Center in Banjarbaru City uses cross sectional design. The population of this study is namely children aged from 0-23 months. Determination of the sample using systematic random sampling with the number of 165 children. The data were analyzed by using Chi-Square and multivariate test using multiple logistic regression test. Based on the results of the analysis, children aged 0-23 months who exposure the stunting by 19,4%. Chi-Square test results show three variables that have significant relationship with the stunting event and the risk factor of stunting event that is the child’s age (p=0,030; OR=2,783; CI 95%=1,166-6,638) and initiation of early breastfeeding (p=0,039; OR=7,896; CI 95%= 1,031-60,464). The result of multiple logistic regression test show that the most dominant factor was related to stunting incidence in children aged 0-23 months is initiation of early breastfeeding. Risk factors that realted with the incidence of stunting are the age of children under the age of five and IMD. The most dominant factor related to the incidence of stunting is initiation of early breastfeeding. Therefore, it is necessary to socialize is initiation of early breastfeeding and breastfeeding procedures according to health protocols during the COVID-19 pandemic to relevant officers and the public.
