Abstract
This research explores teaching strategies employed by English teachers in English courses in Banjarmasin to enhance student speaking skills. The focus is to understand the types of strategies most commonly used by teachers in English course settings to develop students' speaking abilities. The research method employed is qualitative with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through classroom observations, interviews with teachers, and analysis of course documents. The findings indicate that a number of common teaching strategies are implemented by English teachers. Firstly, they utilize task-based techniques such as role-play and simulations to actively engage students in speaking. Secondly, they encourage the use of the target language through repeated practice and direct feedback. Thirdly, the use of media and technology, such as interactive learning software, is employed to enhance students' motivation and interest in speaking English.
