Abstract

The purposed of this study was to investigate the intrinsic and extrinsic motivation of EFL learners to iimprove their English spekaking skills. The research was carried out by case-study method, additing its participants to three students’ using different locations, and categorizing the students’ motivation. The researcher conducted semi-structured interview to investigate sixth and eighth semester EFL students’ intrinsic motivation in Promoting Speaking Skills. Data collection prcedures were conducted through observations and interviews with students of private university in Banjarmasin. The findings reveal nuanced insight into the intrinsic motivation can very significantly among learners, influenced by their personal goals, pratical needs, and intrinsic attributes. Understanding these dynamics can help educators and learners create effective strategies that leverange both internal create effective strategies that leverage both internal drives and external influences to archieve language learning goals. It is expected that this research result findings by be an additional literature review for EFL teachers in terms of English teaching and learning.
