Abstract

Nutritional status is the state of the body as a result of food consumption and the use of nutrients. The prevalence of underweight toddlers according to the SSGBI (2019) is 21.0%, exceeding the national figure (16.1%). This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge, education level, mother's occupation, and family income with the nutritional status of children under five in the working area of Pekauman Public Health Center, Banjarmasin City. The research method used a cross-sectional. The research population of all mothers who have toddlers 0-59 months visiting the Pekauman Health Center Banjarmasin City is 1,162 in March 2022. The sample is 93 respondents. Sampling by Accidental Sampling. Collecting data using a questionnaire instrument. Statistical test using Chi-Square test. Univariate results showed that 65 children under five (69.9%) had good nutritional status, 69 mothers (74.2%) had good knowledge, 48 mothers (51.6%) had secondary education, 68 mothers (73.1%) did not work, 48 mothers (51.6%) with high family income. Bivariate results showed that there was a relationship between maternal knowledge P-value = 0.000 < (0.05), maternal education level P-value = 0.001 < (0.05), family income P-value = 0.000 < (0.05) with the nutritional status of children. There is no relationship between the mother's work P-value = 1,000 > (0.05) with the nutritional status of children under five. It is recommended that mothers who have toddlers always monitor the growth and development of toddlers by participating in integrated health services post activities. It is hoped that the public health center can give more attention to toddlers and optimize nutrition monitoring for toddlers.
